Wagamama Katsu Curry

Wagamama Katsu Curry

Why is it green!?

I’m slightly impressed. For a chain who is not only popular, but their entire brand identity is around being a middle ground “asian inspired food japanese restaurant” they seemingly missed the boat and produced this. While the chicken and rice have no issues, I’m impressed by how green the sauce is. And also how it’s missing what feels like at least 50% of the flavour.

For the price of Wagamama and the variety of other options available, including much more authentic options, I’ve never ventured to the place before, and was offered a delivery of whatever item I wanted from the chain.

I opted for of course, the favourite, Katsu Curry and it arrived hot, in a reasonable amount of time. The smell was not as distinctive as most, although this could be easily put down to being in with a bunch of other items for other people in the office at the time.

Green was not what I expected though. Especially when the website, correctly, shows the colour corrected option of a more katsu-looking sauce. Although, saying that, it still looks the wrong colour on the menu compared to other establishments.

All I can say is that it’s fine. It’s edible, but it’s nothing to write home about. Although I think I’d be more annoyed had I paid the list price for it, as it’s incredibly missing the mark.

Just go somewhere else if you can, and tell your friends to go somewhere more authentic if you can as well.
