McDonald’s Katsu Curry Wrap
McDonald’s Katsu Curry Wrap
Surprisingly Good
What I thought would be either terrible, or just the Sweet Curry sauce McDonalds UK offers, this was a pleasant surprise with what feels like the right flavours. Although the amount of salad could be off-putting, and there could be more sauce.
Previously McDonald’s UK introduced Katsu Chicken Nuggets, which were hyped but upon arrival did not deliver to anywhere close to a curry flavouring – even with the provided sauce. So when word of McDonald’s offering a Katsu Wrap as part of their early 2025 menu, I was not expected much.
I kind of expected something similar to their sweet curry dipping sauce, which while is nice, is way too sweet to be classed as Katsu Curry. Or, something which doesn’t resemble the flavours at all, but to appease the British pallete.
Upon arrival of my order, the smell of something somewhat a mix between katsu curry and the typical McDonald’s smell was a pleasant surprise. I ordered the crispy version, although a grilled version, like with all of the wraps is available as well.
The flavour of what little sauce was there, was incredibly good with a good amount of spice and fullness you expect from a good katsu curry. The only problem being, at least from my local franchise, there was not a great amount of sauce added. Having an option for sauce amount would be a great option – I’d happily pay a bit more for a packet of sauce I could add to my own discretion!
Like all of the other wraps, there was also a good amount of salad including cucumber and lettuce, which surprisingly complement the item quite well.
And to finish it off, I would say this is of medium katsu curry heat level, with a small amount of warmness left, but not an overwhelming amount for someone who would say spicyness is their enemy.
Overall, 4 katsus out of 5! Good job McDonald’s!
