Lidl RAKU Chicken Katsu Dragon Rolls

Lidl RAKU Chicken Katsu Dragon Rolls

Surprisingly nice, refreshing and tangy

As part of Lidl’s fairly recent expansion of offering “meal deal” style food to go, they are now offering a fairly sizable pack of Chicken Katsu “Dragon Rolls”. While no meal deal in sight, it was still good value for money.

4.5

In the UK branches of Lidl, they have been expanding a massive range of products and seeing a colleague with this item intrigued me to purchase my own set. While not coming with chopsticks, or chipsticks not being offered in the supermarket as an option, it does make for a slightly messy eat with the seeded outsides of the rolls flaking off all over the place without offering much more than a splash of colour.

The small pot of sauce is about the right size and upon dipping each roll into the sauce, I still had some remaining. Similar to the Katsu Mayo that Lidl stocks on occasion, Lidl seems to understand the katsu sauce flavour profile quite well. Although a little sweet, and a little tangy, the majority is quite where it should be which is a vast improvement over offerings from other supermarkets.

The only thing I’m not too sure on is where the dragon comes into all of this? A good eat either way.
